The psychology of impulsive shopping

Well, we are on dates where purchases increase significantly, this news I seemed relevant and appropriate considering the times we live.
Consumers around the world are dedicated this season to buy, and often they tend to overindulge and do unplanned purchases.
The sales assistants, marketing and other own strategies trade, stimulate people to shop and many of these are irrational by consumers, who end up buying things you do not need and these stimulate reckless and mindless spending.
Tomas, the author of the news, says that most of the products are chosen for their symbolic value, that is, the psychological meaning for the consumer. This is particularly true in the case of impulsive buying.  He say, that impulsive purchases occur when: consumers perceive that the product or brand they are buying matches their own attitudes and self-views helping them express and cement their own sense of identity and we are stressed or when we perceive a lack of control over situations.
Something important that he say is the products that consumer buys, and especially brands, play the role of symbolic trophies that consumers use to consolidate their self-concept and communicate it to others. The brands, in some other way make us feel important and this is key when we go to shopping, and for we pretend something we are not, we may end up buying  buying things you don’t  really need.
"People who feel they are naturally superior or more important than others, tend to exercise more self-control and are less vulnerable to impulsive buying".. It is really sad, I personally believe that many people don't have enough money is the most falls into this kind of impulse buying, also I think they don't know how to manage their money.

  1. This news is interesting but I already knew, but it is interesting that there are people who buy to unwind, to raise their self-esteem or just to feel superior to others (Y)
